Jump 4 Joy!

Four trips around the sun. 1,460 days of lovin’ on you. Four times on Santa’s lap. Four birthday cakes. 35,040 hours of running around, sleeping in the car, making friends, jumping in puddles, eating hundreds of cookies, and going on many adventures. All the things we’ve done in the last four years are better because we get to do them with you…our three bundles of joy.

Like many say, “I can’t believe it’s been 4 years!” It’s so true. Time goes by so quickly.

They have grown so much in one year. I go back and look through the photos and can’t believe my eyes. They have changed and accomplished so much in such a short amount of time.

Need I mention, they are FINALLY starting to get hair. So much they were able to have their first haircut. They have also experienced many other firsts.

Their first year of preschool was so much fun to watch. They were learning so much when it came to communicating and playing with their peers. Understanding you have to follow directions and listen to authority figures that aren’t mom or dad. They love their teacher and all their friends. They like coming home and telling me what they did and of course, I get a detailed menu for the day.

The first trip to Chuck E. Cheese was a gem of a day. There are not too many Chuck E. Cheese still around. When we went, we weren’t expecting it to be super busy just because it’s not all the rage these days. But we didn’t expect us to be the only ones in the joint. We had the whole place to ourselves. It was marvelous. The triplets were able to run around and play whatever their little hearts desired. During the school day in the middle of the school year is by far the best time to go.

My favorite first of theirs this year was their first dance class. As someone who has been dancing since they were two, (so basically my whole life) this was my dream come true. They had their creative recital to warm up to the big stage and then the main recital with all the big kids. To top it off, one of their two dances was “When I Grow Up”. This was a tear-jerker because this was also my first dance when I started many moons ago. They then did a dance to “Teddy Bear Picnic”. I was unsure how everyone would do, but they didn’t do too badly. Plenty of room to grow, so I can’t wait to see how next year goes. Their dance teacher has some fun dance numbers in store for them and I’m eager to see their reactions.

We had a couple of firsts when it came to ball games. They attended their first baseball game. They had a blast sporting their overalls and yellow shirts. With their snacks in hand, they watched the players throw and hit the ball and the triplets wondered every time where it disappeared to. We then attended our first Huskers game. The spring game. It was so cold that day, we had to bundle up in our coats and blankets. The triplets were not very entertained by the game itself because they ended up falling asleep halfway through. The triplets had a great time with their cousins, but they are not quite ready for a real football game just yet.

We attended our first Angels and Miracles walk. It is with an organization called Connected Forever. They “support families who have experienced pregnancy & infant loss, or a NICU journey by providing resources, education, and emotional support.” I am so glad I found them but wish I would have known about them sooner. Thanks to their Mimi who went with us, we had so much fun.

Since last year, the triplets have received their own digital cameras. Of course, they are in pink, purple and blue. Now we have the paparazzi living in our house and taking pictures constantly. Some of the pictures are actually pretty good quality.

They also enjoyed eating many snacks on the back porch, playing in sand, snow and water. Not to mention the many trips to Grammy and Popi’s house for even more fun. They learned all about country living. They love to play in the dirt, ride the tractor and help feed the cows while they are there.

When the triplets weren’t hanging out with their Grammy and Popi, they were spending a ton of time with one of their favorite humans... their Mimi! She has been such a blessing to our family. She has known them from the beginning and I cannot be more grateful for her. The kids (and myself) absolutely ADORE her! She lights up their lives with her contagious laugh, charm and kind-heartedness. Whenever I tell the trio they get to see their Mimi, before she ever shows up, they are as happy as fish in water.

Those are just some of the fabulous highlights of their 4th trip around the sun. Now if you were wondering what the outtakes look like, let me give you the quick low down—this year that involved Trae flooding our kitchen, then flooding our bathroom, followed by pouring olive oil all over our cloth ottoman and taking Sharpie to our windowsill. Arya having two dramatic trips to the ER or doctor to receive stitches. Both of which involved Tashi in one way or another. Many scraped knees, character band-aids used, bonked heads, hurt feelings and tears.

When chaos strikes, your head might be spinning and your patience is tested but before you know it, the year is over. I love the chaos I live in and I wouldn't have it any other way. Happy 4th Birthday triplets! I love you to the stars and back!
