Snip Snip!

December 9th was a big day for the triplets. They had another first. This time it was their first haircut. I wasn’t sure how things were going to go. They were either going to like it or not. All of you have experienced this to some degree. Either for yourself or as a parent. Either way, it is a milestone. For me as a mother, I was so excited yet so anxious for them. I thought it would be best if their dad went first. However, when we got to the hair salon, they were being typical toddlers and I realized right away they had to go first so we could get our energy out elsewhere.

Trae thought he would be a big boy and be the first to get his haircut. That way he could show the girls how to do it big kid style (at least that is what I was hoping for). Thankfully, he didn’t disappoint. He was such a good customer. I helped him up in his booster seat and she put the cape on him. He started to smile and was definitely taking in the whole experience. When she buzzed his neck, he started to laugh. It felt so funny to him. When he was done, I put his glasses back on and he could see himself in the mirror. He was so happy and was grinning from ear to ear.

Natashia was next. She, of course, was a great customer, too. She was being her good little self. Everything she was told to do, she did exactly. She was so serious the whole time, unsure what to think about everything happening. Once she was in the seat for a few minutes, she was able to loosen up a bit but was still very unsure. However, she was starting to get a little squirmy. Thankfully, her hairdresser was a pro and was able to give her a super cute (and even) haircut.

Arya made sure she was last and finally it was her turn. I helped her up into her booster seat and right away her sass sprung a leak. Her hairdresser asked another hairdresser to come over so the two of them could discuss what she should do about Arya’s hair. Side note, for those of you who don’t know: She doesn’t have hardly any hair. However, she has this ridiculously long rat tail in the back. I knew that HAD to GO! They decided to have it shortened in the back while keeping as much length as possible (which isn’t much) on top. Now you know the back story, so back up a tickle bit to where the other hairdresser comes over to talk. Arya (who apparently was not in the mood for anything) turned around on her booster seat, looked at her with a face of disgust and while putting her hand up (middle finger up high) she abruptly said, “LISTEN!”. It was a crazy embarrassing moment. I just sat there praying she wasn’t paying attention or thought it was funny if she was. Thankfully, the hairdresser wasn’t paying close attention and instead said, “Aww, you are such a sweetheart.” That didn’t help my case when it came to disciplining Arya and making her understand that was not acceptable. Oh well, I can handle that later. After that moment she was a good customer and was able to sit still and get a cute haircut. In fact, towards the end, she went the other way and was starting to get a little uncomfortable, so dad had to give her a few words of encouragement while making her feel safe.

After everyone was done with haircuts, I was able to take a good hard look at them. They are SO cute. It is amazing what a trim can do. However, I also don’t like their haircuts because I realized my three babies are gone. They now look like the kids they are and they just keep growing. I love being able to see them explore life, but please make it slow down.
